Convert YAML to JSON or JSON to YAML online for free. Useful for Kubernetes configs, Docker Compose files, and API schemas. Free YAML JSON converter.
Select the conversion direction at tools.arkaserve.com/yaml-json, paste your content, and the converted output appears instantly. Common use: converting a Kubernetes YAML manifest to JSON for programmatic processing, or converting a JSON config to YAML for better readability in a Helm values file or Docker Compose config. Completely free, no signup, no file size limit for typical use.
YAML is sensitive to indentation — it requires spaces, never tabs. Common errors: using tabs instead of spaces (YAML strictly requires spaces), inconsistent indentation levels, missing colons after keys, unquoted strings containing colons or brackets, or missing spaces after colons (key: value requires a space after the colon). The validator highlights the specific line causing the error so you can fix it quickly.
YAML is human-readable (uses indentation, no braces or quotes needed for strings) — preferred for config files you edit by hand: Kubernetes, Docker Compose, GitHub Actions, Ansible. JSON is strict (requires quotes, braces, and commas) but universally machine-parseable — preferred for APIs, databases, and inter-service communication. When in doubt: YAML for human-authored configs, JSON for machine-consumed data.
